Gemini Technologies Policies and Statements

Modern Slavery Statement

Gemini Technologies complies with all obligations of the Australian Commonwealth Modern Slavery Act 2018 and recognises definitions of the risks of modern slavery, including human trafficking, slavery, or servitude, forced, compulsory, or involuntary labour, debt bondage, deceptive recruiting, forced marriage, and the worst forms of child labour (as defined by International Labour Organisation (ILO) standards) in our operations and supply chains. We have also formulated actions to address those risks.

Gemini Technologies acknowledges the harm and injustice of modern slavery and ensures all goods and services used by our organisation are procured through companies with a verifiable policy, process and, external audit of their supply chain wherever possible. Gemini Technologies do not recruit through labour hire organisations. Wherever possible we authorise procurement with Australian companies that are ISO accredited (externally audited) or have an annual consolidated revenue of more than $100 million, which requires them to report annually on the risks of modern slavery in their operations and supply chains, and are obliged to take actions to address those risks.

Where this is not possible, due diligence is conducted by our Managing Director to ensure the supply partner is a reputable and established Australian business. We do not engage in import, outsourcing or financial transactions with any foreign business that is not ISO accredited.

Gemini Technologies recruits, trains or engages only Australian citizens, or other nationals domiciled in Australia with appropriate residence, government security and background credentials. We ensure their engagement complies with all Australian law, workers’ rights and conditions including payment of taxes, superannuation and other financial workers entitlements. All wages and entitlements are paid only through Australian registered financial institutions.

All Gemini Technologies policy on modern slavery is based on processes for identifying and managing modern slavery risks based on guidelines published by Safetrac and Anti-Slavery Australia. It is the responsibility of Gemini Technologies’s Managing Director to review the operations of all supply chain partners, appraise their suitability and approve any procurement activities with them.

Indigenous Procurement Statement

Gemini Technologies acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first Australians and the Ngunnawal people as custodians of the land in which our business is headquartered. We acknowledge the impact of nonindigenous settlement to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and recognise the social, economic and educational challenges faced by Indigenous Australians today.

Gemini Technologies administration and senior management are tasked with ensuring procurement of all operational supplies, including computer, software, office consumables, furniture, fit out, design and infrastructure prioritise Indigenous Australian companies as preferred suppliers. We identify potential suppliers through the Supply Nation website and commit to engaging these suppliers wherever their products or services are commercially competitive, comply with our environmental procurement guidelines and meet or exceed our quality controls.

Benefits to the Australian Economy

Gemini Technologies recognise the obligation for corporates to contribute to the communities they work with and in we also acknowledge the responsibility to contribute fairly and willingly to the economy through our work, engagement of partners, human resources and professional services.

Gemini Technologies is an Australian private company that pays no component of profit, funds held by the company, funds under management or direct investments to overseas shareholders or foreign entities. We pay all taxes, regulatory fees and other corporate financial obligations to Australian government entities wherever required by law. All staff are Australian citizens, domiciled in Australia.

Gemini Technologies administration and senior management are tasked with ensuring Australian produced goods and services are prioritised in our procurement processes. Wherever goods are not produced or manufactured in Australia, we prioritise procurement through Australian companies that provide assembly, modification or partial component supply for physical products wherever possible. Gemini Technologies uses only Australian professional service providers as external partners.

Gemini Technologies also recognises the importance of contributing to the welfare of less fortunate Australians that seek help through education and work opportunities. Gemini Technologies regularly contributes a portion of its profits from any panel engagement in the form of training or other career assistance to less fortunate Australians through charitable or community organisations.

Environmentally Sustainable Procurement

Gemini Technologies is committed to addressing environmental harm and provides staff with practical measures to ensure we maintain that commitment in all facets of our operations. We comply with all relevant environmental laws, regulations, and standards applicable to our operations and strive to exceed regulatory requirements whenever possible.

Central to our environmental commitment is reduction of paper waste through documentation, which is printed or otherwise generated only where formal endorsement is required. This also reduces our office consumables in print cartridges, printers and network cabling. All printed material is double-sided or reused (where not confidential) as paper for note-taking and recycled through community utilities.

Gemini Technologies hosts all production, office enterprise, database, financial and document repository services on cloud-based platforms, which reduces in-house servers, power consumption, network infrastructure and e-waste. We also ensure our computer equipment is readily upgradable to increase operational life cycle. We complete all hardware upgrades in-house to lessen the frequency of new equipment purchases. Wherever possible, we preference the use of software compatible with low power operating systems such as Linux for hosted and production servers to avoid unnecessary upgrade of hardware through enforced operating system obsolescence. We refurbish and donate functionally obsolete computer hardware to charitable organisations wherever possible.

Gemini Technologies has configured our head offices to accommodate less than 40% staff in attendance, with telecommuting, online video and collaborative workflow systems as the preferred work platform. By minimising staff in attendance, we reduce commuting, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, lessens the requirement for road and infrastructure upgrades and reduces traffic congestion. We encourage staff travel, when necessary, by public transport and bicycle – our offices include bike racks for this purpose. The optimised office space also reduces unnecessary furnishings, fittings and energy consumption. We are committed to green energy suppliers for electricity and encourage our staff to do likewise to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Our environmental policy directives to staff and recommendations form part of our quality and workplace health & safety management plans, which are issued to all full-time staff on induction. The General Manager is responsible to review these policies and directives annually, with any updates issued to staff by our administration team.
